La Fuente Restaurant
625 S 5th St, Milwaukee, WI 53204 414-271-8595
Description: DOWNTOWN. A Walker's Point favorite for years, La Fuente is a fun spot to gather with friends for margaritas or beers and some unbeatable salsa. The atmosphere is relaxed, and after work and on weekends it gets especially festive, often with live mariachi music. The menu is comprised of Mexican standards, such as burritos, tacos, enchiladas, and chimichangas, and some surprisingly good authentic dishes ceviche, chiles rellenos, and camaron a la diabla (shrimp in a spicy red sauce). No reservations accepted, but the wait is usually short.

La Perla
734 S 5th St, Milwaukee, WI 53204 414-645-9888
Description: DOWNTOWN. The atmosphere at La Perla is definitely festive, especially on weekends, when the bucking mechanical red pepper in the front window has a steady stream of riders. The menu is about what you'd expect from a Mexican restaurant combo plates of tacos, burritos, enchiladas and the like but it's all quite tasty, and a few of the more authentic dishes are excellent. Margaritas are the beverage of choice, and the tequila menu alone is over 100 bottles long. The back patio is heated and covered, so dining outdoors is nearly always an option.
